Bare garage concrete soaks up the salty meltwater, and repeated freeze-thaw slowly scales the surface, starting right inside the door.
A diamond-ground, sealed coating ends that. The salt never touches the concrete, water can't soak in to freeze, and a UV-stable topcoat keeps the floor by the door from chalking or yellowing. For ski garages we add an anti-slip aggregate so the floor has grip when it's wet.
